Best Snow Treks in Himalayas

Overview

As our country folk would know, “The Himalayas” are a mountain range that is studied as the historic treasure of our country. It divides the hills of the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan plateau. The range is one of the planet’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest. It has over 100 peaks over 7,200 m (23,600 ft) in elevation in the Himalayas. The Himalayas are spread over five countries: Bhutan, India, Nepal, China and Pakistan. The control of the range in the Kashmir range is in conflict among India, Pakistan, and China. The Himalayan range borders on the northwest by the Karakoram and the Hindu Kush ranges, on the north by the Tibetan plateau, and on the south by the Indo-Gangetic plain. The world’s major rivers, the Indus, the Ganges, and the Tsangpo-Brahmaputra, rise in the locality of the Himalayas. Their consolidated drainage basin houses over 600 million people. The Himalayas influenced the culture of South Asia and Tibet. Mostly Himalayan peaks are infused in Hinduism and Buddhism(Treks).

How to get there

The best airport to go to the Great Himalayan National Park is at Bhuntar in Kullu, about 60 km away. Grab a plane from Delhi to get to Bhuntar.

RAIL

The closest railway station is Joginder Nagar, near Mandi located about 143 km. Trains from Delhi, and Chandigarh frequently come towards Joginder Nagar(Treks).

The Best time depends on the weather you want to experience in the Himalayas. For experiencing snow, the best time would be from January to February, in the Lower Himalayas. The Middle Himalayas, above 10000 feet, might not be possible to go at all during winters.
